Cool Girls was founded in 1989 by Dawn Smith who wanted to help this really violent public housing projects young girls. One day she decided to actually do something to help the desperate girls. Volunteers and churches help create a safe and fun environment for the girls. Years down the line Cool Girls continued to grow with the help of just about everyone. They then started the mentoring program Cool Sisters which help some younger Cool Girls grow up and become a better person. Currently, Cool Girls helps over 400 girls in Dekalb and Fulton county. Cool Girls helps girls develop bonds with each other, their parents, and especially themselves. They’re partnered with 9 Title 1 schools and has so far helped around 4,000 girls total and are continuing to spread over the United States and get more people involved.
