Performance Consulting

What is Performance Consulting?

Gilbert and Skinner worked together starting in the 1970’s to define and understand what is performance and how is it affected. There are many terms that are used throughout business, Human Performance Improvement is the understanding of barriers that may prevent the transfer of knowledge and skills to modify behavior towards the desired outcome. Performance Improvement is the comprehension of levels throughout a system to inform interventions that can support your goals.

Take a systematic approach to problem-solving by assessing, measuring, intervening, and evaluating. We all wish that a quick and low-cost solution can achieve system-wide success and longevity. But, we must be mindful of results when developing solutions so that the focus is on the right choice rather than any choice.

An Assessment of the levels of a system to examine the World, Workplace, Work, Worker is needed.  Understand the environment and root causes of a problem will inform decisions for longevity rather than potentially unsustainable, temporary gains.

We ask important questions:

  • Is there a problem?
  • How do we know it can be solved?
  • What are the organizational needs?
  • How is success defined?

SHOULD-IS-CAUSE Perspective

SHOULDS are the required business results at each level of a system.

IS’s are what currently exists as the business and performance measures.

CAUSES are the reason SHOULDS and IS don’t match. What is the root cause of the problem to get to the SHOULD?
