Now I loved this project because it allowed us to use a material that I grew to love in Drawing I, ink. Last year, I had the joy of being able to experiment with a drawing that consisted of water down ink mixed with watercolors. The process was beautiful.
For the Love of Darkness, we started out by tracing ourselves in whatever pose we chose onto two sheets of 27.5”x 39” Murillo paper by Fabriano. I chose to do my full body with my waist to up on one sheet and my waist down on the second sheet. The method I chose for this piece was challenging and fun because I was drawing what I was seeing but in a small way. In choosing to use the ink and pen in a small way it took me longer to finish the overall piece. In addition, to this, we got to experiment with acrylic ivory and ebony paints. Our instructor, Lisa Alembik, showed us to place both of these paints in a little water to help get a better color. I mainly worked with the ebony because of how beautiful it went with my piece. Upon completing the project I drew the conclusion that I would love to redo it this time with a better pose and adding a little bit of color to the piece. This project was really a toy of my patience but along the way, I was able to get in more practice the ink and pen.
