First and foremost this project and I had a love/ hate relationship. Before even starting the project I thought it would be something exciting because of the way the artist Cezanne painted. Upon starting the project prove to be a little bit more demanding. The first challenge like the Hue Are You project was that we could not sketch the objects on the canvas first. Instead, to start we would have to paint light outlines of each object. This is a neat idea until I realized my proportions were off and without the pleasure of erasing mistakes I had to keep painting on. In this project, so many concepts and styles were covered. For example, I had to create the right shade of the colors found on the in-class still life from the colors approved by the instructor. I grew frustrated in this process because I was too focused on getting the right shade instead of building up the color by using a variety of layers. Also, we had to paint a still life we created from home. The at home still life looks better, in my opinion, than the in-class one. Only because in class was were where I experienced my trial and errors such as using a wet brush instead of a dry one. By the time I had started the at-home piece I was already knowledgeable about things to watch out for. Overall this project was stressful but still full of valuable lessons. I thoroughly love how this project taught me to build upon a color instead of just laying down the actual color.
