The Oracle and Her Dragon was made using one sheet of 8.5 x 11 office paper. I first sketched my drawing and mapped out how I would cut out the shapes to achieve the desired effect. The bottom piece, grass, is composed of the cut shapes from the tree. My inspiration for this piece was drawn from my studio piece, “The Oracle and Her Dragon”. This piece also created many shadows from the various cut-outs. Although it is difficult to view the shape of the dragon when you view the shadows closer it gives an illusion of another dragon that appears cobra-like. The shadows also make this piece feel more ‘fairy tale’ like by bringing the scenery to life.
