Perfumes I took from my mother, charcoal 18x24in

This piece depicts four small perfume bottles staged on a mirror with a strand of pearls. I wanted to try my hand at using charcoal to imitate the texture and translucence of glass. Given the size of the bottles, the only way to fill the 18x24in paper was to “blow-up” the bottles to a macro size.
My own process is very heady and I can get bogged down in details, so it was relaxing to meticulously work on something that required many tiny details. I worked on the piece for a week, which was worth it, because it won a monetary reward after being submitted to the student art exhibition.
