Tool Inventory

Tool Inventory

1. Task 2. Tools 3. Reason
You have to lead an online presentation on the contents of your history term paper.  A. WebEx

B. join.me

 A. WebEx is a screen-sharing tool that allows users anywhere to see what is on my computer screen. I could create a power point and use the dial-in link to hold an online meeting about my paper.

B. join.me has similar capabilities to WebEx such as audio conferencing and screen sharing, but is free. It also has a recording function that would allow me to share the meeting later with those students who were not able to attend my presentation live.

The final exam for your economics course is coming up, and you need to collect all of your (and hopefully your classmates’) online resources for a study guide.  A. Delicious.com

B. Diigo

 A. Delicious.com would allow me to store many resources as long as they have an URL. I can tag them to organize the resources by topic or keywords.

B. Diigo would store bookmarks and share them with certain groups of people, like my classmates who agree to trade resources with me. I can also add PDFs, images, and notes in here to share with the group.

You need to create an interactive tour of Berlin as an assignment for your study abroad program.  A. Prezi

B. Google Earth

 A. Prezi would allow me to share a tour of Berlin that I have created. This unique experience lets the user explore by choosing the order in which he or she clicks on the slides I have created.

B. Google Earth lets me enter in specific addresses and create a virtual tour of places I have visited. I can then share that tour with anyone.

You and a group of your classmates have been asked to do a collaborative reaerch project on how Facebook has affected the social habits of young adults.  A. Google Docs

B. Google Hangout

 A. Google Docs lets classmates and myself work simultaneously on one document. Additionally, our work is visible immediately to one another and we can comment on any part we wish, chat style.

B. Google Hangout would allow my classmates and I to chat while we organize and do our research. The live interaction would be useful during planning, even from the comfort of our homes.

Just hanging on by a thread…

Welcome to my journally. It’s a tech-journey journal. Get it? Eh, that’s okay, it was a stretch.

This is to show you that I am good at some things, just not technology... yet!

Speaking of a stretch, a computer skills class will be one for me. A good one, a necessary one, but a stretch for someone who spent the first half of her life at a ballet barre! What better time to join the digital world than during my pursuit of a doctorate in physical therapy? All the influential PTs blog regularly, right? Okay, I’m in!

I’m Adria and I’m entering GSU as a sophomore in the exercise science program. Then I will move onto graduate school for that PT degree. From there, I plan to do great things. My dreams include one day working with circus arts professionals as a physical therapist!
