One rule of netiquette that I recently learned is that you should not respond to someone else’s comment if the comment was insulting towards you. You should keep quiet and not respond, otherwise it will cause a flame-war. For example, let’s say I posted a picture of myself at a formal event and someone commented on my picture saying, “You are one ugly #!&$@! You should never try to wear something formal again cuz anything that you wear, you look like a fat pig.” Even though that was hurtful towards me, I choose not to respond back to that person’s comment because I know better. I know that if I say something (even if I responded respectfully) it will cause a flame-war and nothing will end it unless one of us shuts it down. So keep your comments to yourself because it’s not worth it.
