Dr. Elizabeth Schmitt is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where she teaches and researches American politics. Dr. Schmitt’s work is situated in political psychology, where she studies voter decision making and the influences of gender in politics. Specifically, her research examines how gender stereotypes influence candidate evaluation. Her research has been published in edited volumes as well as The Journal of Women, Politics and Policy, and The Forum. Dr. Schmitt’s current research projects include how voters rely on gender stereotypes to evaluate elections between two women candidates, whether female lawyers have more or less ambition to pursue judgeships, and the influence of different frames of COVID-19 on immigration attitudes.
