Points are earned for what you do in the course, including attending class, completing in-class work, studying, and major projects. You can lose points for missing class and failing to turn in work or major projects. Your final grade is based on how many points you accrue throughout the course.

What is the attendance policy?

You earn points for coming to class and lose points for unexcused absences. You will earn 10 points for coming to class, and 10 points for required class preparation, for a total of 20 points per class. You lose 10 points for each absence or missed class prep assignment. Arriving to class late will result in a deduction of 5-10 points.

What are the two ways you can lose points?

Unexcused absences and missed class prep assignments.

What are my office hours, and how do you make an appointment to see me outside of  class?

Office Hours: T/Th 9-11 am, and by appointment; by appointment via Skype or Google Hangout if that works better than an in-person conference

You can earn participation credit by engaging with your peers and the course assignments in inventive ways.

Up to 25.

How can you be assured of earning an “A” in this course?

Earn 2,800 points in the course.

What are the minimum requirements for earning a passing grade of “C”?

Completing all the major projects, coming to class prepared, and missing only four class meeting.

What do you do if you’re not sure how to document your participation in order to earn points?

If you ever have questions about what kind of evidence you need to provide to document your participation and how to submit it, stop by during office hours or ask the question before or after class. You’ll earn points for the office hours visit, asking the question, and for finding a way to make the information available to the rest of your classmates.
