Ghost Fleet is about a group of activists that go to the Indonesian islands in search for enslaved fishermen. The fishermen of Indonesia are enslaved by fishing companies and the increasing demand for seafood from the world.  The activist group is led by Patima Tungpuchayakul, who has received threats from people in support of this form of slavery. The film entails the story into the lives behind these freed fishermen and the corruption they faced while in the grasp of these companies. The criminal activity of the companies impacted these fishermen lives so much that anytime they would leave out to the ocean; they would always wonder who would make it back home and who would be lost at sea. These activists document the journey in search of slaved fishermen in hopes of showing people the corruption of these companies and the issue involving the fishing industry. This documentary is about survival of the slaves and the freedom they seek for so long.
