Conflict management are one of the things you need to learn how to deal in a positive way. Avoiding a conflict could lead to many different things that are not beneficial for you, emotionally and to your day to day life.
Conflicts can arise in any setting because it is human nature and we sometimes tend to disagree with people. But we need to change our perspective about conflict. I used to look at it as a something bad, and the exercise in class made me realize this. I had more bad adjectives for it instead of positive ones. And you might ask yourself…why should I look at conflict in a positive way? Well, if we eliminate conflict entirely, it would cause its problems such as no diversity of opinion.
Some warning signs of conflict are:
- Tense relations
- Repetitive patterns of disagreement
- Anger
- Confusion
- Anxiety
- Loss of trust and others
A conflict management plan should be created to know how to react if a conflict occurs.
- You need to be able to read people’s feelings. This will allow you to recognize that there has been a problem and you need to immediately address it.
- Plan to approach them, even if you are the shyest person in the world. This will show that you care for the person’s feelings and the relationship you two have.
Things that I can do to maintain control of the situation:
- Somehow try to calm the other person
- Give them time to calm
- To listen the other person
- Talk and not yell
- Get to an agreement
- Do not give up on the person
