This assignment was for Dr. Harker’s English 3100, Composition Studies: History, Theory, and Practice during the Spring semester of 2015. It is a research paper intended for scholars interested in Literacy Studies.
The purpose of this paper was to utilize what we had learned during the semester to write on a topic relating to Literacy the interested us. I selected this piece because it, to me, represents a new a growing interest I found in Literacy Studies, and its importance as I had come to understand the subject.
I believe the piece is strongest in its use of sources in illustrating the points I bring to the table, though I find the piece overall to be somewhat starry-eyed and limited by lack of first-hand experience. I think this piece would be best served by narrowing its scope and perhaps some experience in the field of education in order to better understand how the tools discussed are applied in a classroom setting.
