Met Gala
With the Met Gala celebrations upon us I have been inspired to find some old shirts I painted back in the day for several festivals and shows. These pieces are influenced by some of my favorite musical artists who really inspire me and give me life with their work. These shirts are timeless to me and express different moments in my life that I experienced with my friends and family that I will never forget. I went to the mall and picked out different plain white designer shirts then transferred and expanded certain photos and artwork from the musicians onto the tee. I used a variety of fabric specific material like paints, markers, dyes, and glitter from Blicks. You can see alot of my pencil marks and mistakes I had to measure everything out to make sure it all looked alright. At the end of the post are just some of my favorite Met Gala moments from tonight and other nights.

Project IV: Figure

Andy Acosta, Gesture Project Iv 2017. Conte 9×12
Project IV: Figure
- Project four in my drawing class was about figure and gesture. Our class went to the cafe student area and did fast gesture drawings. We mainly tried to focus on position and movement on the subject. The other part of the project was to draw a skull using a conte. Using the tone paper to bring out some of the highlights and a little bit of white. The gesture drawing was a good practice, it made me understand more about movement through line.
Project III: Human/Nature

Project III: Human/Nature
- Project three in our intermediate drawing class is about human nature and perspective. We had to think about if nature was sustainable and examine our own relationship with nature. We had to do six drawings that was our view about an environmental issue. For this piece I did one about gentrification, I took a picture of a lower income area mostly housing mothers with children. The area is going serious gentrification forcing people out of their homes and children out of their normal environment and schools. For the first piece I was inspire by a demo in class by professor Alembik. She showed us spraying ink from a bottle to create natural type texture pattern. I took a sheet of Stonehenge outside and did that to create this neat pattern. We also had to incorporate perspective both one point and two point. Lastly I brought these ideas together to bring a message across that nature and education is equally for all.
