How might we create a platform for people who are looking to find volunteering opportunities?
• Is this problem worth solving?
Oh yes, most definitely!! It is an area that needs to be explored more. That market has not been penetrated because it is not a very big revenue generator. But it requires someone who is very passionate about this subject to make it successful. As a matter of fact, it is something that I have been planning to work on but did not have the time to do so. There are many people who want to volunteer but fail to find places and resources to do so.
If you can create a platform that works efficiently, it would be an excellent idea.
• Why has this problem not been solved yet?
Like I said earlier, it is because this subject is not a very big revenue generator. So, people stay away from this type of investment.
• What are the biggest obstacles to solving the problem?
Creating a platform that is “one for all.” You will have to use many prototypes to make sure it is an easy to use platform. What I have noticed is, when you provide an opportunity that does not have monetary gain, you have to make sure that it is easy to access. So, in this case, make sure that the platform that you create is easily accessible and user friendly. People can get very easily frustrated and give up on the idea.
• What pitfalls should I avoid?
The biggest pitfall would be to try to go too big before making a strong customer base. My suggestion would be to start small and making a name for yourself and then going big and investing money into this idea.
• Who else should I be talking to?
You could talk to other people who arrange volunteering opportunities and see how they arrange these events. Because all you are doing is essentially hosting an event and people are RSVP to it.
• What am I not asking or not aware of?
If you are looking to make money from this idea, that will be difficult.

This problem is definitely worth exploring. There is a very big customer base that can be penetrated. The idea is very unique but not very profitable. The platform would have to be very easy to use because people are not gaining any monetary gain, so if they do not see an easy to use platform, customers would not be motivated to use your service. Focusing on smaller area frame and using a prototype is important to avoid any wastage of money.
