I think that we have been somewhat successful in those efforts nothing is perfect and will never be. We may have partly subsided racism in the schools, but it has been replaced with bullying. No matter the race you are, you can get bullied, which is a form of discrimination. We have not come that far; we are going in a continuous loop headed downhill from racism to bullying to school shootings. Everything still has yet to be done, and everything needs work. The first step though is to stop the hate and just spread love but people cannot and will not do that, so we end up right back at square one.
