The MLK Building is located on Forsyth Street and is a place for numerous things. It was built in 1931 by Eyck A.Ten Brown and was used as a postal service area. It is now used as an office space for the federal government and the different things they do. It is all a premier bus stop area for buses that connect Atlanta to other suburban areas around Georgia, including the town in live in Powder Springs.

When standing there the air usually smells normal except for the bus exhaust fumes and smells emitted by trees. The MLK building is very big, appearing as a fortress with concrete surrounding its whole body. To the left of it is a street that connects to the Georgia Dome and to its right are various shop builds.

At the sight on its outside artifacts might include the occasional cigarette, bottle, or bags as most people usually see in Atlanta however one can find some interesting things- like a drooped cellphone or wallet. These artifacts are never arranged or organized since its just trash or forgotten stuff.

It is interesting to note that the sign that identifies the MLK Federal Building is quite small compared to its towering structure and most Atlanta signs, which are big and colorful. Its probably used to show that it is a place of business unlike most of Atlanta, which provides entertainment. At first glance the site has a very intimidating and keep out presence because of the security cameras and guards placed outside. Because of this the MLK Federal building is closed and not very easy to navigate.

The people around the Federal building are usually people from other areas waiting for the bus and therefore do not behave like people from Atlanta and sometimes shows a type of xenophobia when they come around around people in Atlanta, especially homeless people. Since I am also a person from another area like them I was able to blend in and take notes and usually did not act weird towards people from Atlanta due to the numerous times I have been in and out of Atlanta. Also because of its strictly business vibe it does not advertise itself at all, so much in fact that there is very limited information on the Internet from where I could research. However, all in all, the Federal building is a cool place to look at and get picked up from.

A Hallway from the building
A Hallway from the building

This is a hallway located from the MLK building and some sounds from it. Everything sounds very urban and constant bus sounds. The hallway immediately catches my interest with its detail and architectural brilliance. The voice you hear is one of the buses announcing that it has arrivers and where it is going.

This picture is interesting as it depicts a man just waiting for his bus. It signifies the building’s multiple uses as a location as well as architectural uses by providing a rest stand for the man to relax while waiting on the bus.

The Parking Lot
The Parking Lot

This Parking lot is simple and straightforward which is interesting when concerning government business. Usually one thinks of government to be secret agent science stuff but it is mostly normal like this. The lack of parking lines makes it easier fro many cars to fit in along with a garage for extra space.

This depicts the same bland feel as the rest of the building but one can infer many things from this place. For example it seems as it can be used as a place to smoke along with another entrance asa well as exit from the building should an incident occur. The ramp signifies that it provides accommodation for handicapped wheelchair people to easily access the site.

Close up on the entrance
Close up on the entrance

Here is a closeup on the entrance of the federal building. On can notice that the glass openings of the right double doors are a little bit longer then the double doors of the left. The light fixtures indicate that the building was probably lit through torches and not natural lights. Finally the stone design on top of the doors are very akin to many federal designs in the U.S and are intriguing to look at.
