The many editor and historians of Wikipedia came together to give us a brief explanation on Atlanta’s architectural past. Due to the destruction of Atlanta by fire in 1864 by Sherman’s march, there are mostly no traces of Atlanta’s antebellum past. It is composed of mostly modernist and contemporary pieces.
I chose this source as it helps to explain Atlanta’s built environment and why it looks relatively new compared to other cities. The only possible flaw to this source is that it is a wiki that means basically anyone can edit it, however most of the references were informative and good so I did not worry about the page much.
The main purpose of the article is to provide information on the architecture and how Atlanta came to look like how it is. Because of this I am able to gain more insight on how and why Atlanta’s built environment is the way it is.
Wikipedia pages are kind of like annotated bibliographies in and of themselves, I think. Do you agree? Why or why not?
Yes I agree they can be in the right context. For example, one could say my source was basically an annotated bibliography of Atlanta’s architectural history or a collection of bibliographies about the many different sources cited on the page.
