Who Am I?

Hi!  My name is Dr. Alanna Johnson.  I began my teaching career at the Art Institute of Atlanta as an adjunct teacher over 18 years ago and fell in love.  This 2020-2021 school year will begin my fifth year as a secondary teacher at Westlake High School where I currently serve as department chair of the mathematics department.  I teach PreCalculus and IB Mathematics.  I will be adding Algebra I to my schedule this year, as well.

I earned a Bachelors and Masters of Science with a concentration in Mathematics from Clark Atlanta University in 1997.  In 2014, I earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in Mathematics Education from Georgia State University.

I met my husband in the sixth grade and we have three children, aged 25, 19, and 10.  I love traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with my family.
