Artist Statement – Reflection/Analysis

Working on this last project, I’ve learned to let certain things go. Mainly past memories/grudges, negativity. I have learned to push myself out of my comfort zone and understand my skills as they progressively changed. Learning through these different creative solutions, I have been able to come up with a perfect idea of a past experience I faced that was very challenging for me.

I was very open with this project. I created something very personal with this project, that took place during a horrible time in my life. It made me feel a certain type of way. I feel comfortable about it and sharing it. Overall, it was a negative impact of bullying I face for just being me, taking away most of my confidence.

I achieved a personal goal with this project, healing. Letting go completely. I can finally put this experience to rest and be able to move on from it more peacefully. Working on this project has brought me a sense of comfort from it.

What I have learned is to go out of my comfort zone even more and be me. Not everybody has to like me. I can continue to explore various things myself with more creative solutions for newer ideas. Having a new direction in this project has led me to see it in a very artistic way rather than an emotional way.
