Interview one: Fabio
- What is a memorable travel experience/trip you have had?
- London travel experience
- This trip was my first time working, and my first real job.
- Since I only went to London when I was younger it felt like the first time visiting.
- Got to experience the most touristy and the ones that rant
- The work area was in a non-touristy area: Shoreditch
- A lot of events, art, street art
- I Got to experience a touristy city like a local.
- What do you look for when deciding to travel?
- Safety: where I am staying
- Connection to transportation: when you stay somewhere unknown being close to public transportation (tram, metro, bus) is important and it goes back to the local living feeling.
- Financial: looking a little bit outside the city center for places to stay: budget the trip to spend money property
- How do you plan your trips? How often?
- Used to make itinerary but you get stressed when you do that, feel like your missing things
- I go to a place and I’m interested, so when I get to the actual location I take my time to explore
- I have some landmarks plans but those are feasible to go to
- I like to see what’s around these landmarks, I like to walk versus taking transportation because sometimes things go unseen.
- And by doing this you discover new places
- How often do you travel?
- I travel often, (I would like to make it a goal to travel 6-10 times a year. For me traveling is just getting out of my city, my routine, it doesn’t mean I have to go across the world.
- By budgeting, I am able to explore local food or explore places that are low-key.
- How do you plan your trips? How often?
- itinerary: structured
- basic travel website
- some magazines
- What kinds of places do you like to see/visit go to, why?
- I liked to experience the local side because I don’t enjoy the touristy stuff, they tend to be too overpriced, and too overcrowded.
- Sometimes the best everything is in the areas that are not touristy
- When you get outside the tourist bubble you get to experience a side that you would not have otherwise
- Going out of my way to explore is better than seeing just a landmark, in my opinion.
- For instance, every weekend I would explore an area to explore an area in London and find the hidden gems, having no plan.
- Although if it is my first time in a city, there are certain highlights I want to see, I might not spend too much time seeing them.
- What are your favorite things about Atlanta, specific places, activities?
- piedmont park/beltline
- midtown
- Henry’s bakery
- guess centennial park
- west midtown, Inman park (bartaco), ice cream on that road,
- Virginia highlights full of cafe’s, Buckhead, octane coffee next to Oakland Cemetery, brunch places,
