Humanistic

Humanistic approach-  the study of the whole person through the person that is observing/ and the person doing the behaving. The humanistic approach goes against the psychodynamic because “the psychodynamic is the unconscious thought the conflict between biological drive. For example drive and sex basically society demands.

Humanistic- Carl Rogers developed the first few ideas on humanism and devised his own approach to personality. Humanism is the idea that we all start off with the correct tools for a fulfilling life and need the right environment to flourish.

Evolutionary

download-1 download-2Evolutionary Perspective

  • Evolutionary psychology is an approach in the social and natural sciences that examines psychological traits such as memory, perception, and language from a modern evolutionary perspective.
  • Just as evolutionary physiology has worked to identify physical adaptations of the body that represent “human physiological nature,” evolutionary psychology works to identify evolved emotional and cognitive adaptations that represent “human psychological nature.”
  • The field of evolutionary psychology has its historical roots in Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection, but it has also been heavily influenced by fields such as ethology, evolutionary biology, artificial intelligence, genetics, and anthropology.

Evolutionary- evolutionary psychology, founded by Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, focuses on the idea that our phobias and reflexes are based on the things that once kept our ancestors alive. This theory helps some psychologists rationalize mental disorders like anxiety.

The Evolutionary approach focuses on the traits of memory, perception, or language this approach focus on the way of thinking. The evolution you would say of the mind and behavior.  The one that would mostly contrast again is sociocultural because sociocultural focuses on the environment and everything around you.

Sociocultural

The sociocultural approach deals with social and culture environment, and how they factor with one’s behavior contrasting with the Humanistic approach so because of how both focus dealing with study with the environment. What makes sociocultural different is the, also mention how important the cultural influence is ones behavior. The approach that would contrast this one is also cognitive approach because of the study of it being strictly based on the brain and the internal thoughts.

sociocultural- the sociocultural approach determines the cultural environment’s affect on the brain and psyche and how it differs culture to culture. It has provided a cultural perspective for many psychologists not only across continents but also across ethnicities.

It’s examines the ways the social and cultural environments influences behavior.

  • It is impossible to generalize what life is like for one woman from assumptions about gender roles in different countries.
  • To assess what daily life is like for women, one must learn the particulars about the cultural and historical moment she occupies.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic Perspective

Our behavior and feelings as adults are rooted in our childhood experiences.

Relationships (particularly parenting) are of primary importance in determining how we feel and behave.

Our behavior and feelings are powerfully affected by the meaning of events to the unconscious mind.

psychodynamic- the psychodynamic approach, established by Dr. Sigmund Freud, focuses primarily on unconscious thought and the effects of early childhood experiences. This approach encouraged psychologists to study internal factors on personality development

Psychodynamic approach-  is the approach dealing with unconscious thoughts also society demands and early childhood and family experiences going hand and hand with cognitive approach because of the focus on the on the thought process. So it can contrast with any behavior that is focusing on the study of a person using the environment or outside factors

Cognitive

Cognitive Perspective

  1. Exercise the mental process or focuses on the mental process involved in knowing memory, perception, and problem solving.

2)Its recently new and started in the 20th century. The study started to get looked into world war II.

       3) In 1957, Leon Festinger advanced his classic theory of cognitive dissonance, which describes how                people manage conflicting cognitions about themselves, their behavior, or their environment.

Cognitive Psychology

These psychologists study all about thinking, knowing, remembering, and communicating. This study involves the memory and our perception.

cognitive- the cognitive approach, developed around WW II, analyzes the mental processes used for the brain come to a conclusion. It has helped researchers move closer into developing a working ai system and research different kinds of intelligence.

Behavioral

Behavioral Perspective

  • Behaviorism emerged in the early 20th century as a reaction to the psychoanalytic theory of the time, and focused on observable behaviors rather than on unconscious inner states.
  • The Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov is widely known for describing the phenomenon now known as classical conditioning in his experiments with dogs.
  • John B. Watson was an American psychologist best known for his controversial “Little Albert” experiment using classical conditioning.

Behavioral- initially the behavioral approach studied just the observable behavioral responses but has since evolved to take cognitive processes into consideration as well. Behavioral learning has offered some understanding on working learning approaches and helped us determine the best educating techniques

While the Behavioral approach goes hand and with the humanistic approach because they both deal with observing and studying. The behavioral approach states “ an approach to psychology emphasizing the scientific study of observable behavioral responses while factoring in environment as well.  An approach that would contrast this is the cognitive approach because the cognitive deals only with the studying the Brain and basically how our mental process deals with decisions.

Biological

Biological- the biological approach to psychology, studies the body’s physical reactions to psychological stimuli. The biological approach to psychology paved the way for the discovery of neuroscience, giving us some understanding on how complex the brain really is.

The biological approach is the complexity of human behavior and emotion reducing our feelings and reactions to robot-like behavior is not only unethical meaning (not morally correct) it also Ignores the factors in everyday life- The approach that contrast is sociocultural because the biological doesn’t focus on the environment.

Biological Perspective

1)Genetics and evolution play a role in influencing human behavior through natural selection.

2)Biological factors such as chromosomes, hormones and the brain all have a significant influence on human behavior, for example gender.
