After reading and analyzing the text it gave me a different perspective of a College Campus and its impact on colleges and the way kids learn. This article brings attention to different ways of learning and how using the environment can help with replenishing and refocusing when you get distracted. Great points were brought up about how a person looks at a schools campus and how it can directly impact their decision for the fall. kids usually base part of their decision on a colleges campuses. They want to see all the big buildings and what you have to offer them
What if you offered students more classes outside the classroom then inside. Offering more classes outside in the nature where you can think freely. One of the points that I quickly noticed while reading this article was that colleges need to realize how much nature impacts a learning environment and how schools should make there campus more open. “Learning is a lifelong and year-round pursuit, which takes place throughout the campus, not just fragmented indoors in designated instructional spaces.” (Bender & Parman, 2005; Kenney et al., 2005; Strange & Banning, 2001). As she stresses the importance of learning outside the class room this quote could not have said it better.Lessons will be learned everywhere not just in lecture halls. There are a lot of different places where learning can be conducted. Being able to think freely and gather yourself plays a big role in your academic success. The basis of this article was to simply say that a holistically designed campus is more effective then the basic classroom teaching and it can subconsciously give students a better college experience while stressing the importance of the open space on campus and how vital that learning space can be. She spoke on how a mix of different learning areas can bring people together and encourage people to talk and get to know one another unlike a regular closed campus which gives you the feeling of quiet reflection.
