HPT Terms

  1. Behavior – The expected actions to be implemented with the intent to meet an objective.
  2. Cause – The source (or lacking resource) that interferes with a target goal or objective.
  3. Competence – The ability to act in a way that produces results aligned with a target goal or objective.
  4. Deficiency – A value deemed inadequate, compared to a standard value.
  5. Environment – The setting or conditions that encompass an item, person, or situation.
  6. HPI Human Performance Improvement – A systematic approach to identifying and analyzing gaps in performance, reasons for identified deficiencies, and the planning and implementation to resolve performance issues that align with goals or objectives.
  7. HPT Practitioner – Professionals who apply performance improvement strategies to business processes, workers, and the workplace to strengthen the results produced to align with goals.
  8. Human Capital – The total value offered from one’s competencies that accomplish or contribute to the desired business result.
  9. Input (Closely relating to “Effort”) A production element that lends to the end result or desired outcome.
  10. Intervention – A purposeful interference meant to disrupt or change the workings of a process.
  11. Output (Closely relating to “Result”) The result of an implemented process
  12. Performance – To execute or complete an action or series of actions.
  13. Performance Gap Analysis – The method used to determine the difference between the current state of performance (or other items) and the target state, as it aligns with business goals.
  14. Stimulus – A trigger that influences behavior or an event demanding a response of some sort
  15. Vantage Point – A perspective held within a set of parameters or context.
