Week 1102 – Response to Sheeri Spelic’s Article on Education – My Thoughts

Education is today’s climate has shifted time and time again. The time frames are completely different and people don’t see a degree with the same value anymore like how it used to be. 30 years can make a real difference depending on what type of life you were given or if you were even fortunate enough to even afford to go to college. In the 21st Century, we all know education is important but the facilities that are upholding the educational standards are why some students don’t even want to deal with the fact of even going to college.

When Spelic expounded upon how two parents were able to be middle class and allow her and her sibling to go to college was amazing for them. College was the “ticket” so to speak for them while growing up because it would potentially lead you to a higher place you wanted to be in life. If you pitched college to a student who never considered college in today’s setting they may be more likely to say “no”. Here’s why there are so many influences around the globe that don’t even involve the word “college” in the sentence because college isn’t for everyone as many people know. Spelic graduated with a BA degree and only under $8000 in student loans. If you saw students graduating with that much debt today people may consider going to college more often than not.

Finances are one of the many fiscal issues facing students today who are a college with severe debt and loan returns having to be paid back to the school they are attending. Getting an education has never been so rewarding and fulfilling but at the same time getting an education at a college institute and graduating with no worries is like seeing a unicorn and we all know that will never see the light of day. People just need to balance out their life choices and do what is best for them in the long-run. College is an investment and you want to make sure it is worth your time and money because you are making the choice to get your education unless you were forced by your parents but ultimately it is up for that person to decide if more education in a traditional setting is worth the time and effort at the end of the day.
