Advocacy Highlights

Dr. Flowers is participating on national and international committees to focus on helping to move the field of literacy forward through research, advocacy, and service.

  • In 2019, she volunteered to speak at a focus group for the ILA What’s Hot in Literacy to discuss the new trends in the field of literacy.
  • Tiffany also co-wrote the Literacy Research Association Ethnicity, Race, and Multilingualism statement on actions for racial justices during 2020.
  • During 2021, she volunteered for a focus group on What’s Hot in 2021: Beyond the Science of Reading for the Literacy, Research, and Instruction journal.
  • During 2022, she volunteered to provide feedback for the Literacy Research Association Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion meeting with SAGE publications. This meeting was set to discuss how SAGE will conduct training with editors and reviewers for the LRA conference journal publications and conference proposals.
  • In 2023, she co-led the NCTE Twitter Chat for January 2023 on the African American Read-In. You can read about the archived #NCTEchat here.
