Reminders for Students Planning to Start Law School in Fall of 2017

If you are planning to begin law school next fall, then make sure, if you have not already, to seek advisement from one or more members of the GSU pre-law advising network. Here are important reminders as you prepare to apply:

  • Your goal should be to get your law school applications in before December 1. If you cannot make that deadline, you will be at a disadvantage, but you should try to get materials in as close to that deadline as possible.
  • To make that deadline, the last LSAT you can take is the one coming up on September 24th. The deadline for registering for that LSAT date is fast approaching, so make sure to register right away if that is when you plan to take it.
  • If you have not already, make sure to set up an account at www.LSAC.org. You will use this to schedule your LSAT and manage all of your application materials.
  • You should plan to attend the LSAC’s Law School Forum being held in Atlanta on Friday October 28.
  • If you have not already, make sure to put in a request for your transcripts.
  • If you have not already, you need to secure your letters of recommendation from at least three professors.
  • There will likely be a personal statement writing workshop this fall. When this is scheduled, it will be posted on this site. You should start writing your statement now, but plan to attend the workshop to improve it.
  • Schedule an appointment at University Career Services for help with polishing your resume and making it look as professional as possible.
