The Corner of Auburn and Boulevard is a place that’s rich with culture and cultural history. It sits directly on the boundary of Old Fourth Ward, and Boulevard acts as a divider between the quiet living areas of Old Fourth Ward and the hustle and bustle of Downtown Atlanta. Therefore, the area is a nice in between. The area is home to a lot of historical buildings that contribute greatly to the culture of the area such as the King Center, Martin Luther King Jr.’s birth home, and Fire Station No. 6, but the area is also home to a lot of the types of people who you see all over the Old Fourth Ward Area because it’s a short walk to the neighborhoods of O4W.

When I first arrived at the area, I noticed that it was really quiet and empty, but as a sat and observed, I noticed that people would walk up and take pictures of the area and all of the historic buildings like King’s birth home. I also noticed that as soon as I got to the intersection, I started to hear birds chirping. The area surprisingly had a lot of birds, which made it kind of relaxing.

The historical sites of the area were spread pretty evenly around the area. Almost everywhere you looked, there was some kind of history to be learned. The people who lived in the area would come and visit the site too. As I was packing up my camera, a little boy who was with his mother asked if he could have his picture taken, and as I talked to them a little bit more, I found that they had visited the area so that the mother could teach her son about the culture of where they lived.

The area as a whole, was extremely peaceful. After packing up my camera, I sat for a while and listened to the sounds of the area and meditated on the culture that I was observing.
