Alyssa Hendrix, a journalism student at Georgia State University (GSU) recently had the opportunity to go on a private CNN tour led by CNN digital news editor Monte Plott. While there, she was able to see the hustle and bustle of the CNN Newsroom up close and personal.

Hendrix also gained insight into how important getting accurate and up-to-date news is for every journalist. Just one misstep makes it difficult to gain back an audience’s trust. “The only thing we (journalists) have going for us is credibility,” says Plott. “If we lose that — if get things wrong, doesn’t matter why or how we got them wrong, just that we screwed up — then we’re out of business.”

CNN is is well known and respected across the globe and Hendrix expressed her awe over being able to visit the world headquarters. “For many journalists, working for CNN is the ultimate goal – and to go there and see it makes me feel like it could be within my grasp,” says Hendrix.
