Michelle Livings was chosen to be student speaker at the Fall 2017 School of Public Health Commencement ceremony. The ceremony was held on December 15 at the Georgia Tech Pavilion.

Michelle Livings successfully defends “Maternal Preconception Health and Neighborhood Factors in Relation to Preterm Birth in Georgia, 2012-2014”. Her thesis was unanimously approved on November 27, with Dr. Betty Lai as her thesis chair.

Ann-Margret Esnard, Betty Lai, Chris Wyczalkowski, Natasha Malmin, and Hazel Shah have jointly published an article in the Springer Nature SharedIt Initiative. As part of the initiative, “School vulnerability to disaster: examination of school closure, demographic, and exposure factors in Hurricane Ike’s wind swath” is available for full-text view-only.

Ann-Margaret Esnard, Betty Lai, Chris Wyczalkowski, Natasha Malmin, and Hazel Shah have been accepted to publish in the journal Natural Hazards. Their article, “School vulnerability to disaster: Examination of school closure, demographic and exposure factors in Hurricane Ike’s wind swath” will be available in the upcoming edition.

Jeremiah Williams, Michelle Livings, Rob Cathey, and Betty Lai were jointly accepted for an article in the SAGE Research Methods publication. Their article, “Employing a Growth Mindset Intervention in a Graduate Level Statistics Course: Merging Research with Teaching” will be available in the upcoming edition.

Hazel Shah, Ryan Savage, Richard Ortiz, and Betty Lai have been accepted to publish an article in the Eye on PSI CHI quarterly publication. Their article, “Undergraduate research: A valuable experience for expanding your mind and your resume” will be available for the winter edition.
