This is an article from the AJC, and it talks about what GSU plans on doing with the newly acquired area that Turner Field is currently located on. GSU is planning on fulfilling the promise set by the Centennial Olympic Stadium had originally promised but failed in achieving, and that was to generate prosperous growth for the community surrounding the stadium. They plan to build a new baseball and football stadiums for the university, and also bring residence halls along with many businesses including a grocery store. Georgia State’s ultimate goal is to help the communities surrounding Turner Field, that have been historically “run over” by previous projects dating back to the 50’s with the first interstates.

This article shows how GSU is actively changing the city around us and will change the perspective of the city, in particular, Turner Field. Bringing in businesses into this area is going to be a catalyst in developing this area, which Centennial Olympic Park failed to do. However, this article does not go into much detail about why it has been a poor area in recent history, but it would have created a deeper understand of the problems causing the much needed change. The article has the overall viewpoint of the changes as a good thing, getting rid of the relatively unsuccessful economic communities around it.
