Binders, located on the first floor of Ponce City Market at 675 Ponce de Leon Avenue, serves as a retail store with eclectic products that consist of art, gift, craft, and framing supplies. The company urges personal growth through art education and seeks to inspire all demographics to approach art as a creative outlet. With this philosophy, Binders supports local art around the community to create a more inclusive art scene within the city of Atlanta. The store is open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 on Mondays through Saturdays with limited store hours on Sundays. Immediately upon entering Binders, the storefront’s design appears unique with intricate wood framework and panels all throughout. Most notably, their products were displayed like a hybrid between a library and a museum; some of the supplies stacked up similar to books on countless library shelves while other supplies appeared similar to museum artifacts on display. In fact, I couldn’t distinguish much between the decorations and the items that were actually up for purchase! Regardless of which ploy the store utilized for arrangements, the supplies were enticing. Numerous customers, including myself, roamed throughout the entire store and perused through every bit of merchandise because the selection was vast and intriguing. Undeniably, file_000the environment was cute and artsy which was reinforced by their employees, decor, design, and products. In regards to the colors present within the shop, they varied. The art supplies and decorations appeared intensely vibrant with all colors in the rainbow sporadically arranged, though the wood panels were monochromatic all throughout the store. The wood counterbalanced the vivacity and playfulness of the color which, in turn, helped to maintain Binder’s sophisticated appearance. The store’s predominant audience includes professional artists, aspiring artists, and/or those remotely interesting in art, though numerous window-shoppers peruse the store frequently. Perhaps, Binders has so many browsing visitors because art is approachable, fun, and includes all ages, genders, and demographics. Therefore, the inclusivity of art attracts everyday shoppers which is undoubtedly exhibited in Binders at Ponce City Market.
