Armor
Neuro Warrior
This project was about making a piece of armor that represented a cause the we wanted to emphasize. I wanted to show the power and capability that neurodivergent people have. The mask is supposed to be a physical representation of “masking” that neurodivergent people use to “fit in” to a neurotypical work. I could not get a great picture of the wearable garment sadly, but it was to show that even though it is not easily seen we are still capable of defending ourselves. The staff that I made is supposed to almost be like a third eye in a way. It’s power is to open the minds/ eyes of people who do not believe in the disabilities they can not see. With this project I had to learn patience when it came to drying times. I know better then to fiddle with glue that is not fully dry even though it may look ready. Over I really enjoyed this project and the materials that I worked with!

For this project we had to merge two mediums together, Soap and Clay. I have worked with clay before, but carving soap was a new challenge. We had to make an abstract form. Once the clay was shaped to our liking, we had to emphasize the shape with the air dry clay that was provided to us. The sculpture also had to be able to be seen and stand at multiple angles. I enjoyed working with these materials and will probably try to use them again in the future.

Creepy Crawly
Drantis Beetle / 2023
For this project we were encouraged to make our own creature out of wires and have the form speak for itself. We also had to include one moving piece on this project. I combined 3 insects together to create the Drantis Beatle. I combined a praying mantis, a beetle, and a dragonfly together to create my creature. I added beads to make the eyes pop from the gray toned wire. I originally made the creature too bulky, so as I kept going I tried to make the outlines speak for the form more than the clumped wire. I loved how the piece turned out overall.

8 Ways of Paper
8 Pieces of Paper / 2023
For this project, we had to construct 3D forms out of one piece of paper each. The goals were to learn different techniques to bring our ideas from a 2D concept into the 3D space. Techniques like molding, cutting, and folding were big processes that we had to learn and understand to make the project work. Then we had to take photos and think of how the lighting affected the sculptures. Once we had the photos, we had to lay them out in our sketchbooks and write about what our process was. When I started working on this project, I first produced a long list of ideas to see which eight I would actually want to do. Once I had my eight chosen, I then started on molding all the pieces that I need to use water for. that way they would have time to dry. I then moved on to some of my other pieces so that way I could get as much done at once. Some of my ideas failed sadly but the outcome of the other sculptures were way better than I could have anticipated. I learned that I just needed to have patience when it came to using water with paper. Plus, I had to be gentle, or I would rip the paper by accident. Many of my peers said that I had a good contrast between textures on my sculptures and that the lighting I had helped to bring the pieces to life. I think after all the trial and error I got a good grasp of the skills that I had to use. It was a whole new world to work with paper, but I think I was able to understand it well enough to have a great product emerge from it. I will definitely take the skills I have gathered from this project and use it in the future! I had so much fun with it and would love to make more sculptures at some point, but with more than just one piece of paper.

Classroom Perspective
Hard at Work in Class/ 2022
For this perspective project we had to work in two point perspective. This is when lines of an object converge on two vanishing points instead on one. We first started by practicing this kind of perspective with graphite on a large piece of paper. This way we could over extend lines and put the vanishing points further away than the pre-drawn box. Once we felt comfortable we moved on to doing a wash version from the same spot.
