McEdwards earned her Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Learning Technology. She has a long-held passion for teaching and for research into learning style, and the acquisition of writing skill. A professional writer and published author, Dr. McEdwards builds on a distinguished career in broadcast news that has most recently received worldwide visibility thanks to her anchoring and reporting work for CNN International.
With more than 20 years of experience in covering world news and global business news, she has previously anchored editions of World Business Today, Your World Today, and has been a key member of CNNI’s political and election coverage over many years.
McEdwards joined CNN International from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in the midst of Asia’s financial crisis. Since then, she has been a part of several award-winning breaking news broadcasts for CNN International including the conflict between Israel and Lebanon, Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in South Asia, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and CNN’s 2000 Millennium coverage.
While at the CBC, she won awards for her extensive coverage of the sensational Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka trial. McEdwards also won several awards for her political reporting, including the New York Festival Award, and a Worldfest Houston Award. She received a U.S. national award of merit for her anchoring on CNN during the September 11th terrorist attacks.
