Will This Ever End?

Dear Mr. John Lewis,

After reading my third set of pages in your book, there are no words to describe the amount of anger I feel. The topics that are addressed in this book are heavy and real but they still to anger every ounce of my being. I cannot seem to come to terms with the cruelty and violence that people exhibit. As blacks try to fight their way to social equality, whites doImage result for black hands in chains everything in their power to preserve the oppression. To say that I was infuriated by what the government did to Fannie Lou Hammer while she was sharing her testimony would be an understatement. Although I could never imagine your exact emotions or anyone else’s exact emotions during that time, I commend you and all others for maintaining a strong fight. I was pleased to read about your influence in Africa and the work of MLK Jr. and Malcolm X. It is because of people like you guys that others continued to fight for what was right. In 2019, blacks have the right to vote but not all eligible people exhibit that right should change. #socialequality #supportachange
