Mixed media collage, woman in love and trapped in an abusive relationship, foreign women
Mixed media collage, Foreign bride floating away from an abusive relationship

Process

Medium: Mixed media, watercolor, duct tape

Size: 9 x 12in

Description: My poster aims to help foreign woman that are trapped in abusive relationships. I want these women to be able to recognize the abuse in their relationship and have compassion for themselves to help themselves. A lot of the time these women are stuck in these relationships for the fear of deportation or just not knowing that there is a way out. However the free website I provided is able to help them get citizenship and find affordable help nearby.

Project II

Pearl

Process

Medium: Acrylic paint, clay

Size: 7 x 6 in

Description: This project is based on the song Pearl written by Mitski. I destroyed a book named Pearl and reconstructed it to show the vulnerabilty of the narrator and how she longs for love even though she has it. This sculpture encompass two lyrics “and it left a pearl in my hand and I roll it around, everynight just to watch it glow.” and “There is a hole that you fill.”. While sculpting the skin I was also referencing another lyric from her song Liquid Smooth, “I’m liquid smooth, come touch me too, and my skin is plump and full of life, I’m in my prime.”. I didn’t make the skin smooth to show satire, I wanted to exagerate how her skin is plump and full of life by making the veins pop out to convey how desperate she is to find that missing piece.
