Module 7–Complete Your Portfolio
Learning Objectives
- To continue to apply your coding skills and rhetorical knowledge to real-world web design
Notes
Web Design Concept, Typography—What’s typography? Simply put, it’s the aesthetics of the design of your type. How much do you know about typography? What’s the difference between “font” and “typeface”? How does typography affect your readability? These are just some of the issues I want you to think about when it comes to typography.
Assignments
- Complete all the design of your portfolio website.
- Add a new page to your website and name it “ra.html” (where RA stands for rhetorical analysis). On this page, I want you to write a rhetorical analysis of the final project. A rhetorical analysis is a critical reflection on the project: why you have designed the project the way you did. For specifics, go to my Projects page and follow the link “Rhetorical Analysis” under “Final Project.” Detailed instructions are available. You don’t have to follow my instructions to a T; instead, use them as a guide. You can share with me anything you think appropriate about the final project. Essentially, your rhetorical analysis is a justification for the design of the final project. Or put in another way, it’s also your argument why you deserve a good grade.
- On your default.html page, add a link to the rhetorical analysis, using “Rhetorical Analysis” as your link text.
- Research about and write a reading summary for the following web design concept: Typography. This summary should be placed on your “readings.html” page. Your reading summary for this week should contain the following:
- A heading on its own line formatted in bold
- At least 200 words (please note the word limit change)
- At least two sources with complete bibliographic information in MLA or APA format
Grading
The Module—The total points for this week’s module assignments is 40. Grading for this module will focus on the following:
- The amount of work you have done according to my requirements
- The effectiveness of your content and format design
Final Project—At this point, I’ll grade your final project as a whole. It’s 40% of your final grade.
