My Spin

For many of you, this is probably one of the first college courses you’re taking. Coincidentally, it’s also one of the most important courses in your college career as it prepares you for the great deal of academic and non-academic writing you will do during and beyond college.

In this course, we will cover a range of topics in two main categories: rhetorical context and genres. With rhetorical context, we will discuss such issues as audience, purpose, process, ethos, pathos, logos, etc. With genres, we will cover several different types of essays: narrative, expository, analytical, and persuasive/argumentative. It will then prepare you for ENGL 1102, English Composition II. More importantly, however, I hope this course will help you get over that dreadful apprehension over writing and even develop a love for writing.
