Erikson Institute Report on Technology and Young Children

Recently, the Erikson Institute released a summary report of a survey they conducted about the use of technology by children under age 6.  In this study of 1,000 parents, 85% reported that they allow their young children to use technology.

The experts at the Erikson Institute’s Technology in Early Childhood Center shared some tips for parents, including:

Rethink screen time and manage its use. Young children have access to a variety of screen media today, but not all screens are created equal. Shift your focus from how much they watch to what they watch. Focus on the quality of the content and level of engagement and emphasize opportunities for interactions, relationships, and social emotional learning.
