Domain of One’s Own

Whether creating a portfolio, a blog, or learning how to design websites, using Domain of One’s Own gives you the freedom to create the web presence you need. Featuring a robust CPanel dashboard, anyone with a GSU CampusID and password can work with a variety of web applications for content management, databases, and more!

Tips for Setup

  • Create a simple, short first Subdomain. When creating your account, your first subdomain can feature your name or something else simple. Keep in mind that other subdomains created will include this first subdomain, so it’s best for it to not only be simple, but memorable.
  • Use the root folder information for Dreamweaver. When creating a Dreamweaver site, you will connect to the root folder (or a folder inside of the root folder).

Tips for Design and Writing

  • Make sure to use legible fonts and colors for your text. Bad font choice or choice of colors can make it difficult for your audience to read.
  • Use appropriate images to draw your audience into your posts. You can find photos using the Creative Commons Media Resource List.
  • Always make sure to include source information for images, video, and audio.
  • Caption your images to provide source info or extra information about the image.
  • Use Alt Text on your images to make your site more accessible for those using screen readers.
