Video Resume

The Video Resume is a great project for displaying your skills and abilities in a visual way. You can use video resumes not only when applying for jobs, but also for applying to grants and scholarships.

 Tips for filming and editing

  • Make a video resume that suits the job/scholarship you are applying to.
  • Don’t clutter your background. A simple setting will keep the audience from getting distracted from what you’re saying.
  • Make sure your audio is clear.
  • Use text so audience can not only hear you, but see as well. This is good for emphasizing key skills and accomplishments, as well as, showing the spelling of your name.
  • When filming, consider using a medium shot or wide shot. Close ups may be too close for your audience.
  • Use a tripod when you can. You want your shot to be steady, not shaky!
