Bio

My name is Anthony Payne and I am an Art/Graphic Design major at GSU Clarkston. My main passion in art is graphic design, but I also love and admire many other versions of creativity and art.

RECYLCED BEING

For the recycled being project I used a Quaker grits container, which was the base of the overall being. I then cut two holes across from each other in the container. The second object I used was a Powerade bottle. I cut two holes in the bottle just as I did for the grits container. Next, I used a short wire to connect the container and bottle together. Once the wire was through both objects entirely I used two short straw pieces to put on the ends of the exposed wire. Finally, I put a circular object under the grits container to give it a different angle and point of view ; I used a rope like object to go through the straws.

I used charcoal pencil and tried my best to work from left to right to avoid smudging. I used value to try and show shadows and lighter and darker areas based on the light source I was using.

Perspective Drawings

For my first perspective drawing I drew a one-point perspective. This drawing is from the point of view of the Clarkston GSU Library. I started with my horizon line which was somewhat low because I drew this sitting down. I made everything that was close up or relatively close darker than what was farther away from me. From my point of view, the staircase entrance was my focal point and everything around it followed it.
My second drawing was from a two-point perspective. The drawing is from one corner of a classroom looking at the other corner. I started with my horizon line and two points at the ends of the horizon line. Once I had the points I drew everything I saw from those points and angles.

Quiet Drawing

For my quiet additive drawing, I chose to draw my headset. The headset reminds me of my time to escape from the stress of school, work, and just life in general. I use this headset to listen to music, play games, and talk to my friends through the discord app. Time flies and I forget all worries I previously had.

For this assignment we had to draw a light square without a ruler for our edges. I first made four marks so I would later be able to complete the full square shape. Once I had the four corners marked I began to draw the headset from left to right so I would lessen that chances of smudging. I used my charcoal pencil on its side to draw the headset. Once I completed the headset drawing I used the charcoal pencil to fill in the rest of the background using a consistent pattern.

Project 2 : Value Assignment

For my value assignment I used five objects that mean something to my life. I started with rubbing vine charcoal over the paper and then proceeding to blend it. I used a huge light source and placed it behind me to the left. Starting from left to right, I chose this shoe because this particular shoe is one of fifty. The shadow under the shoe allows you to comprehend the direction of the light source. The second object I chose was my foam roller. I workout on a consistent basis and the foam roller is a major key in my recovery process and time. The third object is my drum cymbal that I’ve had as a part of my drum set since I was in elementary school. The fourth object goes hand in hand with my second object. I use my blender to make protein shakes and workout drinks. I also chose it because we had to use a variety of textures and materials. My last object was my Coca-Cola coin bottle.

MATERIALS
• vine charcoal ; use blending tools for smudging ; three different erasers are required (white plastic, kneaded, and Art Gum).

Compassion Posters

Below are the two posters I completed for the Compassion project. The image including the green background represents my compassion for African American mental health. The image including the pink background resembles my compassion for the LGBTQ+ Community. More specifically, it relates to transgenders and their lack of provided healthcare. For the LGBTQ+ poster I used images to create a rainbow’s shape. On and around the rainbow are simply images and words that represent my primary meaning for the project. For the mental health poster I used articles relating to mental health in black communities as the background. I then showed African American celebrities and specific mental health battles they face in their lives.
